AR15 Orlite mags work with Mini 14????

Hi all,

I've been told that Orlite mags for AR-type rifles can be made to fit and function in a Mini 14. True? Because of the dearth of reasonable, quality, hicap mags for the Mini, this seems like an attractive option.

  No they will not. Thurmold makes an Mini 14 mag. I have seen the Mini 14 thurmolds for sale on this site. Do a search using the Thurmold name and see what comes up. You can also go to thw WTB site here and post that you are looking for some. My 2 cents [8D]

  If it is possible be darn sure that it still works in an AR type rifle or you just made a new high-cap mag and thats still illegal till the AW-ban sunsets..

  Who sells Thermolds for the Mini? I know they exist but have yet to locate a retailer who sells 'em.

  I had one for my Mini... It was OK, but I sold it. You could do a WANT AD for one... Better yet.... Get a PMI mag [:D]

  I heard they won't hold the bolt open after the last shot. Others say they do. What was your experience?

  If I remember the Orlite would NOT hold the bolt open, BUT!!!!!! I have a bunch I use in my AR's And they hold the bolt open. Maybe it was just the difference in guns?? It was about 12 years back that I had the mag for the Mini.[:)]
