It was indeed made in menomonee falls Wi. I live about 5 miles west of there. Realist made scopes in the 60s and 70s and were on the cutting edge for a while. They went out of business sometime in the early 70s. Last year I sold a 3x9 that was in 95% or better condition with the box [2 piece telescoping] and warranty card for $80. The early fixed power ones are slightly collectable

Not 100% sure, but my granpa had a stereo camera made by realist; may be same company-took 2 pictures at once, and you had to have a stereo viewer to get 3-d. Neat item.

If you know it all; you must have been listening.WEAR EAR PROTECTION!

Realist was started in 1965 and last cataloged scopes in 1974. They produced quality optics, but not the Stereo-Realist camera. Stroebel does not list a model 5800, but they did make two models of 3-9x scopes, one from 65-74 valued at about $50-$80 and the other from 72-74 which had a special mount and cam valued $225-$325 with mount and cam, $100 less without.

A friend of mine came back from Nam with a Springfield 03 with one on it about `68 or so. Said he got it off a guy who went home in a rubber suit.

Asking price is not always what it's worth...[;)]
