Verona shotgun
Hello. I need some advice. I saw a Verona 12ga semi-auto for 299$. Is this gun any good? (For a duck hunt and occasional clays (as a practice between hunts and one more question how is Benelli nova (saw one for 399)

I just picked up a Verona shotgun for my sons 16th birthday. Does anyone know anything about this manufacture? I was told that they are a couple of doors down from Beretta in Italy. The shotgun feels great and seems to be built well. The cost was 1/2 of the Beretta's same model ($379) at Turners.Jim 0 -
The Verona is an inexpensive utility gun somewhat akin to a Stevens, but perhaps not quite as strong. You already know that the value is minimal so there's not much to say on that subject.
As to shooting, the gun will safely deliver a load of shot. If that's the only object of this drill, then the goal has been met.
On the other hand if you want the gun to "sing" when you pick it up, then I'd probably go for a used Elcee or something along that order. It's the difference between an old VW Bug and a Porche.

i would dig into the coin jar and roll a few more rolls of quarters and get the benelli[:p] you get what u pay for. the only negative aspect about the benelli(i assume your talking about the nova) is, the recoil. the recoil buffer system is recommended at about 130.00.
by your post it seems that an over/under or pump is acceptable. if your looking for a good all purpose gun in the 299.00 price range, try the following:
rem. 870 express
mossburg 835
mossburg 500
winchester 1300

The Nova is a very decent gun. I have had an 870 Rem. and a 500 Mossberg. I like the Nova better than either one of these. I know the recoil of the Nova is more than my Super Black Eagle, but it does not seem extreme to me, however I weigh in at 240 lbs..The ease of taking this gun apart and cleaning it really a plus. I also like the synthetic stock that came with mine, as it takes a real beating in the duck boat. The finish on the gun is also quite durable. This gun never failed me in some adverse duck hunting conditions, and I highly recommend it. 0 -
I agree with coffinhandler the Nova is a nice gun. I bought one when they first came out for waterfowl and turkey, I love it. I also have a 870 wingmaster which I like for the upland birds, its a little lighter. Thats probably my only complaint about the Nova is it is a heavy gun. The good things about it defenitly outway the bad. I haven't shot the verona but I have shot one of the stoeger over and unders and it shot very well. I think they go for around $300
