I've had both, the SPAS is by far has the "Coolness" factor, but in my mind to heavy ... if you want an 8 shot pump, buy a Mossberg, Winchester or Remington ... the LAW is more practical, lighter and easier to use.
Both can be operated one handed in semi-auto if you have the folding stock and arm hook, this is the only area where the weight of the SPAS is a good thing.
Overall, I wasn't impressed with either, thats why I no longer own them ...

I once owned a Law 12, in fact I showed up for firearms class with it during basic law training and the instructor nearly sent me home, jealous I reckon. Sold it a year later and wished I hadn't, probably the coolest and nicest shotgun I have ever owned.

I like your taste...definetly the "cool factor" with those.
Regarding the Mossberg...the Model 590DA is pretty sick. It has a 6-round tube magazine and a butt stock w/a 2-round quick release holder/loader...push them forward (8-round total). Has a parkerized blue finish, bayo lug, 18.5" barrel. I think you can specify a mil-spec barrel for it if I remember correctly. Only $500. I've been thinking about getting one.
Is it the pre-ban Spas 15 w/the magazine that now requires registration as a destructive device (NFA rules...$200 tax?). That happened along with the "streetsweeper" a couple years ago I think? The streetsweeper is a little EXTREME.0 -
I have a LAW 12 and a SAS12 ( pump ). Love them both . Big , heavy and cool . Haven`t shot them a lot ,but never had any problems . I agree with the others . If you are just looking for a HD shotgun get a Rem. , Win. or Moss. Which ever suits you .
I have 18 riot or battle shotguns in the safe . A Stevens 311A with 18" BBL stays by the bed
Check out www.spas12.com a very good site about Franchis0 -
I appreciate the responses. I agree with the opinions regarding the other shotguns. I have a Win 1300, all done up[:D], a Moss 500 bullpup and a Saiga. I have briefly played with the LAW and it was a nice gun. I like the SPAS for the obvious cool factor and the accessories (a guys got to accessorize), but I've read where a couple of the parts are plastic(ish) and don't hold up very well...and I'm not sure how easy it is to get replacement parts. Ultimately cool and reliable would be perfect; but reliability is first. Thanks again for your opinions![:)]

You didn't miss anything Chuck. I posted a Franchi type Q, received some good responses and now wanted to delete the post to clean up my mess/the board.

You can edit or delete a posted reply, but you can only edit the topic starter post.
The Moddy's can delete replies and/or posts, but usually only do that to those that are offensive (known here as "Poof"ing).
Topics on the "Experts" forum normaly get locked after about 10 replies, as the origional question is normaly answered by that time.
