advice on 9mm+P+ and 9mm+P ammo

I'd like to hear from people who have experience with using hot 9mm rounds
i'm seeing reference to 9mm+P as well as 9mm+P+
i'm a gun-nut but have no knowledge of this subject whatsoever
need to know
is this ammo REALLY hotter??? i have three 9mm weapons
a Tarus model 94
a Tec 9
ans one of those inexpensive norinco made clones that were made in calibers 7.62X25 (tokarev) as well as 9mm----would like to know if it would be wise to use this 'hotter' ammo in any or all of my 9mm weapons

    The pressure in the 9mm+P is about 10% higher than standard 9mm Luger. Unless your owners manual says your gun can handle +P ammo, don't use it. BTW, there is really no such thing as +P+ ammo, that is just a marketing gimmick. It is either standard Luger or +P ammo.

    I've had experience with +P ammo and it is hotter than the standard 9mm round. I've seen advertisements for even hotter ammo and I would ASSume that the velocities would be greater than +P. The way I'll describe the +P over standard is the report is slightly more aggressive and the felt recoil is crisper. My G19 and high point carbine both shoot the hotter and lighter grain bullets better. GL![:D]

    The +P+ create very high preasures. I would read your owners mannual to see if your handguns will qualify. The +P+ will push a 124gr 9mm at 1250fps out of a 5 inch barrel.

    Ok----I'll dig up my manual for the Tec 9----i dont have the manuals for the other two---perhaps there are owners of these pistols out here who are familiar with their manuals
    i'm also wondering
    were some of these manuals produced befor 9mm+P ammo was introduced? i have used the hot police issue loads in the Tarus with fyne results doesnt say +P though.Thanks to all the fyne folks out here who are sooo helpful
    often tymes i will read all the new posts and then search the archives as well---so much knowledge here----Thanks!

    also
    the manuals usualy say 'not' to use reloads---i do it anyway and have never had a problem with my own loads----i have seen some 9mm surplus turk ammo though that i'd "NEVER" again attempt to fire in any of my guns
    once fired a round---'didnt SOUND or FEEL quite right'
    this was in my Tec 9----fortunatly i set the gun aside and didnt attempt to fire it again
    lo and behold when i got home from the range that day and went to clean my firearms
    noticed that a projectile was jammed in the bbl----quite a chore to extract so i miked the bullet and found it to be extremely oversize
    checked some of the other rounds in the boxes and discovered many oversized projectiles existed---later learned from a friend these were made for machine guns that frequently have sloppy bores
    the disclaimer about the reloads by mfgs. is probably a CYA thing
    would the story be the same for the +P ammo as well?

    does anyone know if the tarus model 94 would be safe with the +P ammo???

    A Model 94 is a .22 LR revolver. Do you mean a Model PT92? Below is copied from the Taurus webpage regarding use of ammo.

    Boomerang----Thanks----you are right about the model number--what i actually have is a Tarus model PT 92 AF---which when purchased had a fixed rear sight which i found to be despisable so i found a nice adjustable rear sight to replace it----since this is one of my favored weapons i guess i'd better stay away from +P ammo
