Remington Rolling Block
I have acquired an Old Remington Rolling block action from an estate sale. I have two questions: what is something like this worth ( not that great of condition, but can be worked on by a gunsmith ), and since it has a serial# am I able to ship to someones home address or does it need to be shipped to a FFL dealer?

Hello again folks.Can anyone help me out on a Remington Rolling Block rifle value. I saw one for sale in very nice shape but just dont know what to pay.Any ballpark figures would help. All I know is it has the saddle ring if that means anything. Appreciate any help. Richee 0 -

The Model 1867 Remington was the first of the Remington foreign contracts and comes in two varieties. The first are those actions made by Remington in Ilion New York and have a slideing extractor which is held by a screw on the left side of the frame and is operated by a lug on the breech block. Also, there is no fireing pin retractor. About 1871 Sweden entered into a licence agreement with Remington so that they could make the actions in Sweden. Several changes were made to the action at this time. The barrel threads were changed to a metric pitch V type thread. The extractor was changed to a type that rode on the breech block pin and a small lever was fitted to the breech block in order to retract the fireing pin. When rebarreling these actions be sure to bush the fireing pin hole and reduce the diameter of the tip of the fireing pin.

I know a lot about the actions and some of the variations. My post was to see what some of you would like to see done to them. For mine, I am going to round the corners and do a engine turned finish. For another one, we are going to blue the receiver and then engrave through that so that the engraving lines are "in the white." Then it would be coated in a clear coat to prevent rust and scratching the finish. If you guys have any ideas please post. Also thought about making a pistol with a lightened frame. Will do atleast one shotgun barrel. 0 -
