    I believe that the Scout has his barrel markings mixed up; the M1 CARBINE (not the the M1 RIFLE) has the barrel date on top, behind the front sight.

    The "245" marking is February, 1945, the month that your barrel was made by Springfield Armory (that is what the SA in front of it stands for); since your receiver was made the same month, you probably have the original barrel.

    The Arlington Ord markings are known as "import markings". Your rifle was loaned to Korea; it was probably rebuilt/refinished by them, & then "import marked" when it was brought back into the US in the 1970s.

    hahaha, how funny, I've got one of those. I knew it was a Korean import but I never really bothered looking for any markings on the barrel.
