WTK - value of bayonet
bought one yesterday and want to know how much its worth - looks like an enfield but I don't know. its 21" long in the metal sheath, no markings except 477 stamped into the wood. the handgard piece has the hole for the barrel and forms a J on the opposite end. I know thats not much to go on but I thought I'd ask.

Your description matches about 100 different long blade bayonets that were made any time from about 1870-1930. Most were made in Europe, a few American designs were also made. The Japanese used a bayonet of this type until 1945.
I would guess and this is only a guess that what you have is a European export bayonet made under contract to one of the South American countries. Most of these bayonets were made in Germany and Belgium.0
