  I have read that the barrels are interchangable. But I have no hands on experience here. The hand grips are not interchangable. Hopefully someone with more experience with the G2 will reply. I have questions in this area myself as to the other differences between the g2 frame and the standard. Is the G2 frame an improvement? And in what way?

  As far as I know the barrels are interchangeable.One of the major improvements is.If the gun is cocked and you let down the hammer you do not need to open the action and close it again to recock the hammer.
