HOW TO, Remove EPOXY

Just got a used 1911 slide in S-Steel, Someone took off the front sight and tried to fill it in with epoxy. It's a mess... All over the top of the slide. HELP!!!!! What can I do to get it off?[:)]

  Lacquer thinner should soften most epoxies. "Aircraft Remover" would be an even better choice.

  If all else fails, try Lye or Drano in crystal form.

  A sharp knife or chisel will remove the majority of the built-up glue; solvents suggested above will get the rest. If you want to clean out the tenon hole, use a drill bit first, then scrape out the remainder.

  Heat. You're going to re-install a front sight anyway, so get out the propane torch. Heat it up and scrape it off. Use a plastic scraper though or you'll scratch the SS to blazes.
