Remington 25-10

A model 4 Remington 25-10 rimfire. Octagon barrel, front site missing.Wood near perfect walnut, no scratches no dings, no chips. this rifle would presumably be NRA good to excellent (except for the missing front sight). Is ammunition available? any idea of it's value? approximate date of manufacture?

  The Remington New Model No.4 was made from 1890-1933. About 50,000 were made. The .25-10 is the same as the 25 Stevens short. As far as I know, no one is loading this cartridge at this time and the cartridge is somewhat of a collectors item. In the condition that you describe,if it had the front sight, it would be worth about $400.

  any idea where I could procure a front sight for this 25-10. Also need to mention that it has a take down lever on the right side.
