A5 malfunction?
My dad just picked up a Browning A5 at the last show, tried it out this weekend. It won't cylcle, it fires a single shot then you have to manually work the action. I'm not familiar with Brownings, so I can't help him.
Anyone else?

YOU PROBABLY HAVE THE FRICTION RING SET UP FOR HEAVEY LOADS AND ARE SHOOTING LIGHTER LOADS. CHECK THE BROWNING WEB SIGHT FOR PROPER SET UP FOR THE LOADS YOU ARE USEING. ALSO CLEAN AND LIGHTLY LUB THE FRICTION RING AND SPRING AND MAGAZINE TUBE. 0 -
Look for a decal inside the forestock. It shows the proper settings for the load you're going to use. Assuming that's the problem, you're now set to go.
If the decal isn't there, it's available over the web. In no case is it a big project.
While you've got the gun apart, make sure the forestock isn't cracked. This will cause all sorts of headaches. And one more thing... Is the gun set up for modern ammo? This will cause an ejection jam situation and is most often encountered on 16ga. guns.
Nice gun! Enjoy your A-5.
