Charles Daly Semi-Auto Shotguns

Am interested in purchasing a 12g. semi-auto primarily for deer hunting. The low-end firearms include: Verona, Phantom, Baikal, Traditions and Charles Daly. With the exception of the Baikal made in Russia, all the others are manufactured in Turkey. Am most interested in the Charles Daly as it is easily available at Walmart for $299.

Any suggestions re: respective quality, problems, etc.

  I had a Charles Daly, POS don't buy one! I had a bad experience with a Charles Daley shotgun. I thought $300 semi-auto 12GA why not. Turned out to be a POS. All the rounds liked to try to eject out of the magazine tube in mid cycle causing the gun to lock up completely. This of course happened to me right before a hunt. I had to use a screw drive to pry the dang thing apart. I wouldn't buy another one of their products.

  im sure u can get a decent mossburg in that price range. if your stuck with the above options, i have read good reviews about the baikal. forget the charles daily(garbage). i would also consider a used gun , remington sportsman for instance, which is actually an 1100 remington with the cheaper wood. you can also try the mossburg model 9200(used) in that price range.

  I have a Phantom 12 w/3" chamber. Shoots and functions well. I believe it to be okay for the $$

  IMHO,a good pump is better than a cheap auto,and can put out enough firepower to put a deer down.I know autos are fun to shoot in "play" mode,but a cheap one is just that.
  If ya have to have an auto ,then go good ol' american on the used market,as the others proposed.

  I bought A C/D 12 gauge autoloader with the 3" chamber about 4 months ago and have put about 600 rounds through it with no problems at all.
  
  I have read other posts about them being junk but I wonder if they were early production guns that didn't have the bugs all worked out yet. Granted, this shouldn't happen but we all know it does even with some high end manufacturers.
  
  I too hesitated before I bought the C/D because of some of the negative posts I've read but I figured the price was right and it comes with a lifetime warranty.
  
  If your planning to shoot clay birds using 2 3/4" shells don't buy the 3 1/2" chambering. The gun needs a heavy shot and powder charge to cycle the action which makes it unpleasant to shoot for extended periods.
  
  I have no regrets with my purchase, I say go for it.
