you might not like this but the instant you plunked down your greebacks that tikka became a 'used' rifle. the dealer didn't manufacture the rifle he just retailed it and sent it back to tikka after you missed the spots on your initial inspection. does tikka ouw you a 'new' rifle? probably not. should they replace your rifle for 'customer relations'? probably.

I didn't "miss the spots" on my initial inspection. When I picked up the gun from the dealer is still had cosmoline all over it so I had to take it home and clean it myself!

    Dan,

A factory doing the job does not make it an aftermarket job.
I wouldn't worry about a reblue, it's probably not what you wanted, you wanted it 100% when you received it...I understand.
A current production Tikka isn't going to bring any collector value in 50 years. Sentimental yes, collector doubtful. So who cares if they re-blue? It will probably look better than any other coming out of the factory.

Customer service is pretty high these days. Wait for them to repair...then if it looks buggered-up then scream.

I had a problem with a Ruger years ago. I ended up with a much nicer rifle than expected after the repair. I am glad I sent that piece back!

I personally would ask your FFL for help. I would want a new rifle.
Collectable-no. Re-blue, probablly better than original. Mineral spirits-Did not some one from this forum suggest this to you? Flitz-
I thought that your FFL gave you this. Flitz would not remove cosmoline. I feel for you as you have been beating this purchase to death. Ask your dealer for help in resolving this situation. If you were my customer, I would do everything to make you satisfied. Go for
    a new rifle. 101

COSMOLINE? I've only see that on Army Surplus Guns, I will bet that the reblue will be great,[:p] and you will be the only one that knows it's been reblued, It will most likely be better that new.[:0][:D][:D]

So far the opinion is to let them re-blue, but how long is reasonable to wait? its already been going on 4 weeks!

I don't think you will be upset with what will come out. Infact they will probably watch this gun closer now than if it was coming straight of the line. Beretta is a fine company and Sako (make Tikka) is as well. They are going to blue that gun to original or better than original quality. Have confidence that they won't just slap some blueing "paint" on it and send it back. Let them fix their mistake and make good and then if still unhappy make a fit but not until you get it back. If you get it back and am unhappy, you can claim that they proceeded without informing you of what went wrong and what they were going to do to fix it. When someone brings a gun in, I inspect it and tell them what I'm going to do before I do it and ask for money or whatever.

    Yes,
Respond to your (01) FFL and again ask for his help resolving this problem. I can not believe that this has gone for sooooo long. Total
B.S. Bet I could resolve the problem/situation within a few minutes.
