RUBY....Made By Tomas de Urizar, Eibar, Spain circa 1916/22..Copied after the Browning Model 1903 and called the VENUS....Quite simple to Dismount....if the gun is complete...and the one in question is'nt..!.....Its Missing the Safety and that might make a differance in taking it apart...But for the moment...lets pretend its all together....Pull the Magazine......Rack the Slide a half Dozen Times to make sure the Weapon is Empty...Pull the Slide all the way Back and Put the Safety in the Up Position to Lock the Slide in the OPEN position...Turn the Barrel 1/4 Turn Clockwise to disingage the Locking Ribs from the Matching locking Recess's in the Frame....You might have to Wrap a Piece of Leather or sheet Lead around the barrel or make a set of Barrel clamps to hold the barrel and Twist the Barrel back and forth to Free it from its frozen position.....and slide the barrel forward out of the Slide...Then Holding the Slide in your Left hand and the Frame in Your Right..Release the Safety Catch and allow the Slide to Move Forward...taking care that the Tension is released from the Main Spring in the gun...Otherwise...SPROING.....! and You get to Search for the Spring and Guide Pin....for the next 3 years...and will be found in the Flower Pot Upstairs in the Closet at the end of the Hall..........I wish You Well.....Captain Kirk

    Thanks Cap'in,

Yeah the missing loack pin is a headache. I have been pushing and holding the slide back with a dowel rod thru the barrel up against the door jam, but it only leaves me one hand for turning.

I'm gonna try wedging it open with a hunk o' wood whilst I twist.

Guess I'll make a new lock pin at work, I doubt I'll find one...

Thanks a bunch for the history and tech info I appriciate it!

The grips on this gun have a little devil type creature, now I know why...

I removed the barrel with much fussing. smeared half of the last locking lug on it though.

It was tough to remove because the hammer spring has dislodged, who knows when and was blocking the full travel of the slide.

It still went pretty far back tough, didn't even suspect this as a problem. Wouldn't have mattered though, no way of getting it out anyhow until the slide came off.

Once the barrel came off then I had to contend with the spring through a tiny gap between the slide and frame.

not much left to do now but:

    1 Fix smeared lug
    2 get/make spring for sear
3 lengthen trigger disengager bar thing so it does'nt go full auto
4 modify a browning mag to fit it
5 file off dings from previous ding bat owner(s) (excluding the guy I bought it off of)
6 put a post on hammer to keep spring from squirting off again
7 Find/make new lock slide pin
    8 derust
    9 blue/park/ or brown
    10 make new grips

    all down hill from here!
