Need Beretta .22lr Experts
I have a very unusual Beretta .22lr with a 20 round mag and it is one that I can't find in the books. If you are a Beretta Rifle expert please let me know if you might be able to help identify it for me.

Well sir I don't claim to be an expert on ANY particular firearm, Beretta or otherwise (although I have been flattered by many folks here on GB), but after 25+ years in this business I have seen A LOT of guns! There were only a handful of Beretta .22 rifle models ever produced and most were dedicated target rifles. It should be pretty easy to narrow down the list to my one guess: The Beretta "Sport Model" (also called the Super Sport or the Sport Carbine). These rifles are seldom seen in this country due to their high price. If I recall these had 20 inch barrels and a three leaf folding rear sight and a safety button at the rear of the trigger gaurd. All of these that I have seen had walnut stocks with checkered pistol grips and a very slight Snabel forearm. These came with 4 or 8 shot magazines, but a 20 round clip was an option. The interesting feature of this rifle was when the "butter knife" bolt handle was dropped into a cut out in the stock the rifle acted as a normal bolt action. With the bolt handle in the raised postion it fired as a semi automatic. Since these are not often seen it would be hard to put a value on this rifle but I'd say if your's was in excellent shape it would bring close to $400. By the way, gaurd that 20 shot magazine as you may not live long enough to locate another! That was my guess...how does it stack up against your rifle?

Mark, You were right on the money. Man, you know Berettas. Are you sure about the pricing though. This gun is Mint and I think it would bring more than that. Especially with a 20 round mag. I appreciate the info you gave me. Might you be able to refer me to some literature on this gun.

Mark, Is the gun supposed to have 4 screws in the side of the barrel as if it were to have some kind of scope mount? Thanks 0 -
The four screws do not ring any bells with me but that really means nothing since it has been many years since I have seen an example. Pricing is an arbitrary issue since these rifles are seldom encountered in this country and the only way to put a real value on it is to try and sell it a what ever figure you may think it is worth. The 20 round magazine is an interesting optional extra, but most people would prefer to carry the rifle around in the field with the 4 or 8 shot magazine. Finding literature is going to be a problem and you may have to write directly to Beretta in Italy and BEG them for copies of what ever information they may have gathering dust in their archives. I have been to the factory in person a couple of times and these are NOT the most helpful people you'll come across. Never the less you have nothing to lose by sending them a letter.
