Mossberg shotgun value

Hi all,
I'm considering buying an O.F.Mossberg Model 395KA 12 GA C-LECT-CHOKE
Serial no. 67780.
I made enquiries wth the factory to find out when it was mnufactured, but haven't had any response yet.
Al I do know is that it is older than 18 yrs and in excellent condition.
[?] Is there any otehr way to find out year of manuf. and approx. value?

  Hi, welcome to the forum. I beleive Mossberg bolt action shotguns were made mostly in the 60's and 70's. The were functional and inexpensive when new. They are still very functional, though most hunters don't like them because follow up shots are much quicker with a good pump shotgun. An excellent condition gun will only sell in the $100(U.S.) range, or less. Good luck.

  B/A scatterguns are the bottom of the bottom as far as desirability goes. Date of manufacture is absolutely unimportant and value is minimal.
  
  Here's the scoop... A well used Stevens single in good mechanical condition will sell for somewhere in the $35.00 area. That doesn't mean that folks won't see price tags for more, but it does mean that they don't often go for the asking price!
  
  B/A's are one step below the singles. The $35.00 price listed above won't change much, but the real selling price will be less than for a single... If a buyer can be found.
  
  Why would anyone pay $100.00 for either of these guns when a good Mossberg pump might cost only $25.00 more?

  Nord knows his shotguns, but is a bit of a snob against the singles and bolt guns. We do a pretty good business with used bolt action shotguns; the customer base is generally the 'more rural' type whose grandad/dad/uncle had one and they learned to hunt with it. I'd wager there is still many a Marlin 55 Goose Gun out there.

  Which is exactly my point... If you sell at $75.00 retail, you bought it for half that.
  
  And YES, I don't have much use for utility singles. They have their place and they're perfectly good for the purpose intended. But once you hold a classic Elcee your life will change forever.

  i had this same discussion with my local gun dealer.i live in st louis, and he says he cant hardly give a bolt action shotgun away.people will come in and buy a single shot for home protection and pay $50-$75 for a nice used 1,but wont give $50 for a nice 3 shot bolt action.i have bought a couple of nice old bolt action 20 ga and gave them too mother in law for protection,dont think i paid over $50 for either in excellent cond.makes more sense too me than a single shot.
