Taurus model 72 help

I posted this in error on the gen. forum a few days ago. I loosened the breakdown screw on this rifle and seperated the stock and barrel. Unfortunately, I can't get it back together! The 2 halves appear to be fully engaged, the screw seems aligned, but it stops just short of threading into the female thread in the receiver. Any suggestions?
