Weaver fixed scopes
I am looking to get a 4 power fixed scope for my 3030. I have been looking for used Leupolds, Burris, Nikons, etc. But I found a new Weaver K4 scope,which has a better price tag then on the above mentioned scopes, and am looking for opinions on how they stack up against the other scopes I mentioned. I realize "you get what you pay for", but am curious about the Weaver K4. Thanks for any opinions and info.

salzo: If the new ones are as good as the old ones you cant go wrong.[^] Weaver has always made a good scope for the money. I have a marksman 3x9 on my AR15 and have never done anything to it. I check it once a year for accuracy and it hasnt moved, its been on the rifle for over 10 years.

I think Weaver Scopes are the most under-rated scopes on the market. I have a variable 3x9-38mm (V-9) and it is a very good scope with generous eye relief and distinct reticle. I have not used the K-4, but it should be good also. If this says anything, Freedom Arms sells Weaver scopes to go on their Model 83 in .454 Casull.

I don't know about new K-4 scopes. The old ones were decent scopes for their time, but no comparison to the better of todays scopes. My choice would be Leupold, since I cannot find a fixed 4x Burris.

Salzo, to directly answer your question - I would think the K4 would be a perfect scope for a 30/30 and a great deal for you. I have a K6 on a bolt rifle and think it a remarkable bargain. I have grown to like the fixed power scopes and replaced a nice Leupold VX-1 3x9x40 with the Weaver K(6x38), which cost exactly half. The Leupold was perhaps a tad sharper but to my eyes the variable was just not as bright in low light. 0
