Remington ammo
I have a Model 16 Remington. On the barrel it says 22 autoloading. When I ask anyone if they have ever heard of a 22 autoloading round most try to sell me Winchester 1903 ammo. Is there such a round. Thanks.

Sam,,,,, I dont believe Remington makes a model 16 rifle.
If it says .22 autoloading on the barrel, it is probably a .22 LR.
I have researched my Remington catalogs, both old and new, and cannot find a model 16.
If it was a magnum 22, it should say 22 WMR or 22 magnum on the barrel.0 -
Sam,
The model 16 was manufactured from 1914 to 1928 and used the .22 Remington Auto cartridge which is *not* the same as the .22 Win Auto cartridge which was more popular. According to my references, no ammo has been made since circa 1945. There have been special contract runs of some other rimfire cartridges in recent years, but I just checked my normal sources of obscure shooting ammo and verified none for sale. I'm afraid you have an orphan there.0 -
As usual Iconoclast has hit the nail on the head. The Remington Auto Cartridge was brought out to compete with the Winchester auto loading round, but, was not nearly as popular. 0 -
I will check as I used to have some. email me if you are still looking for some. 0
