felony or misdemeanor?
carrying concealed in Florida, WITH a valid CCW, can anyone tell me what level crime exists if carrying into a prohibited area, according to the CCW law. Also, for example would carrying in a result in a different level violation than a prohibited government building?

typo, sorry...question should be would carrying in a bar,(or other prohibited private zone) result in the same or different level infraction than in a goverment building?(which seems more serious to me?)

I doubt your first offense would get you charged and arrested but you may be asked to leave and have your CCW revoked if you walked into a prohibited area and got caught, but walking into a government building may get you arrested, what level of infraction that is in florida I can't answer but I would advise you not to risk either one. So don't go walking into a police station or the governors office with a gun under your shirt.

Just my opinion of course, but, regardless of the " TYPE " of infraction it is. I'm sure the result would be the same. The loss of your CCW.

Thank You RUGERNINER...finally someone answering and not preaching...I asked a simple question, and got a whole lot of "NRA instructor 'words of wisdom' and antiquated soap box reteric".
I DID NOT get that badge, because after properly doing my due diligence, including listening to those here, and calling Florida's AG, I determined it would be inappropriate.
I ask this now not as an intellectual mind exercise, but as a very practical everyday situation. I'm out with my friendly dog, enjoying outdoor cafes, shopping, meeting people....I would like to know if i'm subject to a Mis. or a Felony if I keep my little p-32 in my pocket, rather than find a fedex to send it back to myself, or hide it in the bushes!!
I refer to simple TGIF type bar/resturants, not biker and smoke filled drug and pool-table scum joints.
Too often these 'Senior Members' fail to bend down a little to listen to the actual question of the 'little member', and give thier stock answer of, "I don't know the answer exactly, but you're wrong!"

The most important thing to think about is if you are arrested and found guilty of a Handgun Violation it would prohibit you from gun ownership in most states....I've seen it happen here in MD..0 -
H-H You say Senior Member and NRA like they are bad things. I also see that you posted the same question in the Gen Disc forum and got spanked over it. In this post you left out the word 'BAR' after the words 'carring in a'. Let me ask you this, if you are out in outdoor cafes with your dog meeting people, why would you be concerned about the laws Re: carring your gun in a bar. Also as far as I can see Ruger answered you in the other forum. Unless he deleated his reply from this forum and I doubt he did that. Harumph-Harumph-Harumph

Carrying a firearm, loaded or unloaded into a bar will net you a fourth degree Federal felony regardless of what state you're in.

Hi, I do not know every state law. One time my firearm was held until I was able to pick it back up the following day. And no forfit of my CCW. The fact that I had a handgun on me in no way added to my mistake. But if I did not have it then it would of been a big boo-boo. In my state on the permit it says "not valid on comerical aircraft". But if you carry your gun into the post office to drop off your mail or pick up a box you could be in trouble due to the fact it a "federal law". I have called the ATF a few times to ask to them was odd questions but hey!I want to know,and I have found out that @ the local level I have been told "NO" only to find out at the state level I was told wrong. So when in doubt make a call and get the name of who you talked to just to be safe.
