9mm llama (for self defense?)
I DOUBT I WILL EVER BE ATACKED BY A 400 LB MAN BUT COULD A 9MM LLAMA STOP A MAN OF THIS SIZE? THE REASON WHY IM ASKING IS I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT GUNS AND I DONT WANT TO HUNT DEER WITH A 9MM I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF IT HAS ENOUGH POWER TO TAKE A DEER DOWN EASILY SO I CAN COMPARE IT TO A LARGE ATTACKER AND SEE JUST HOW POWERFUL A 9MM REALLY IS.IS IT POWERFUL ENOUGH TO KILL AN ATTACKER EASILY FROM 20 YARDS OR WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF TAKING SOMEONE DOWN AT THIS RANGE WITH A 9MM?

Your chances are great if you have good shot placement. But why not upgrade to a .357 or even a .45 if you like the 1911 configuration? They offer less room for error due to the fact that they are much more powerful then the 9mm. If you are truly worried about your safety, get a gun with a larger caliber and take a pistol defense course. Hope this helps.

WELL IT JUST SO HAPPENS I ALREADY OWN A 9MM LLAMA AND WOULD LIKE TO MAKE DUE WITH WHAT I GOT.RIGHT NOW I HAVE 115 GRAIN WINCHESTER BULLETS WAITIN FOR AN ATTACKER AND I HAVE ALREADY BEEN ROBBED ONCE (WHEN I WAS EMPTY HANDED)NEXT TIME (IF THERE IS A NEXT TIME I WANT TO KNOW WHAT A 9MM BULLET WILL DO TO A CRIMINALS HEAD CAUSE THATS WHERE IM AIMIN MY GOAL WILL BE TO CLOSE A DAMN CASKET PERIOD.MAYBE I SHOULD SWITCH TO 147 GRAIN BULLETS OR GO ALL OUT AN GET HOLLOWPOINTS WHAT DO U THINK?

one last question i have a large rottweile with parvo and he needs to be takin out of misery would a 9mm be suitable and suceed in doing so?

I have a Llama IX-A in 45ACP...if you really are interested in stopping someone..that's the caliber! There is not substitute for bullet mass. 9mm has a higher velocity, but 230 grains of 45ACP will take ANY man down! [:)]0 -
If yer dog has parvo; why not blow $13 and give him a shot? It's curable.
Then clean up all the dogs*** so he doesn't get it again.
A 9mm llama will fire and function (at the other end) exactly like any other 9mm with the same length barrel.
Here's some free advice; visit your local gunshop and ask for the free reloading guides that powder makers publish or visit gunpowder makers' websites and study the ballistic tables for the caliber you're interested in. Specifically look at muzzle energy and velocity and compare different bullet weights. You can learn a lot about "stopping power" that way. Otherwise; buy several different brands, weights, etc. and shoot at a wooden target about 150 feet away- you'll be able to hear the difference in the faster rounds and see what sort of damage takes place with each type.

I was robbed myself in the 70's and I really would have liked to off the guys who did it. They put a pistol in my ear, and I had to take it away before they shot me. I would have given anything for a high caliber weapon at that moment. I fired the one bullet in it but missed. I would have even been willing to die myself just to get rid of that gang of dirtbags. I could see they did it just cause they liked it. They enjoyed being animals.
They got away and later beat up an old man severly after robbing him. No telling what else they've done. I'm all for the death penalty, if that was ever a question for me.
But I have to say, its not good to be too anxious to kill people. A mistake against an innocent person is not worth it. That was taught very well in my concealed handgun class. It was good training.
