Sniper Fill?

If you're getting 1/2" with surplus ammo at 200, don't change anything. "I am satisfied with that." Geezuz, that's way less than 1 MOA. Even though it should be measured centre to centre.(Relax, it doesn't matter with accuracy like that.) Friggin' Savage rifles are amazing. You should be busy bragging about your rifle loud and very smuggly. High priced custom rifles won't do that with surplus ammo.

Sunray has good advice, leave it alone. I have 2 Savages, a 12FV in 22-250 and a 110FP in 7mm Rem Mag. They are both awesome shooters. I put the Choate Varminter stock on the 12FV and it has made a difference in comfort but accuracy improvement as minimal. If you really feel the need to stiffen the stock, use fiber glass resin to fill the voids under the stock. Cheap and strong. Do not bed the barrel, Savages shoot best with a 100% free floated barrel. In my opinion, I also dont see the need to bed the action either since it is on a composite stock and warping and cracking is not really an issue.

[:I] Thank you. I don't really think about shot groups like that as being much. I never could shoot as well as my father and never shot to impress anyone. Being selfish, it is all about me.

I will say that I am pleased with Savages - these are my first - and the Accu-Trigger is worth every bit of trading in older rifles. I cannot see how we lived without these. When I shoot my old Mosin-Nagant now, it seems like I am pulling on a semi to get the round off.

Anyway, thank you. The question remains open though on what I could use to stiffen the stock and on what "Sniper Fill" is. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been looking at your messages and I would like to know what kind of group can you expect out of this rifle and what are the exact specs. What is the price range of this rifle? I am asking because I may be interested in getting one myself.
    Thanks
    Eric

You might want to do a search over at:
    http://www.snipercountry.com

I found a ton of info over there when I was looking into getting a Savage Police package rifle. I missed my chance on the rifle though, could've had it for $850 with Tactical Leupold[sp] scope and Harris Bipod. Price went up $1200+ unfortuantly. [V]
