S&W 681 PC
I'm supposed to go look at a S&W 681 PC. I know retail for new is high, but I'm thinking I can get this one for about $350. It is used and has no case or moons.
Will the gun function the same without using moon clips?
How good/bad is the quad porting?
Did it come with a bobbed hammer?

Yes, it's a PC. 3" ported, 7 shot, chamfered holes, PC logo. Asking price is $400, no box, no moons, bobbed hammer. 0 -
Gun should work fine w/o the moons, they just add to speed reloading. The boxes you can always order seperately or I think I saw them in Cheaper than Dirt.
Smith & Wesson has the moons & case for sale... Expesive though.

At that price you could easily turn it around and sell it somewhere else.

If it is/was setup to use moons, shouldn't the cylinder be recessed? This one is not. The Serial Number is LHB2## 0 -
We had one in our shop that sold for around $900 new. Guy took it home and realized he wanted something else brought it back and sold it on consignment for around $800.
I could be wrong but I don't think these guns have made it into the blue book yet. I'll look for ya tonight just in-case though.
Is this one of the Black Tee'd, green & black ones?

I didn't have any luck last night. Looks like the newest Blue Book we had was I think a 22nd edition copy. I would have sworn we had one newer. I didn't see the 681pc. Could be the day shift at the shop was hiding the newer one on me.
