Case Converson
Does anyone know if there is a case converson chart out there for making brass from other brass? I'm looking at making 7.35 Carcano ammo.

I think there have been a book or two on the subject but I can't recall the tittles offhand. You might want to get a copy of Cartridges of the World as it gives the dimensions for most sporting and military rounds and you can get an idea of which cartridges might be workable into what you need. I can tell you that having had to fabricate brass for a gun or two over the years it is a lot of work and I can't imagine wanting to shoot a Carcano bad enough to take this job on.

You have to understand the rules. Each gun must furnish meat to the table before it can go into retirement. I'm not the best hunter; but I'll bet you a quarter on the corner I've taken game w/ more calibers than most.

I'm not aware of chart but there are at least two books that cover cartridge conversions.
1) The Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions - John J. Donnelly
2) Designing and Forming Custom Cartridges - Ken Howell
Your Carcano cases can be made from 6.5 x 54 MS.

according to "handloaders manual of cartridge conversions" 7.35 carcano is made from 6.5x54 Mannlicher-Schoenauer. you first taper expand to 30 cal. ,trim and chamfer, full length size in 7.35 die then fireform in chamber. i would first try obtaining cases from the Old Western Scrounger they may have some as the 6.5x54m/s may be just as had to find 0 -

What you are looking for is some 6.5X54 M/S brass.

I think you ment BIG game. Do they make 157 different calibers? What do you have in 6.5X 54 brass? Is that 6.5 Carcano?

That includes every caliber from 24 all the way up to .510.

only common caliber I have used yet is .366, but that will be taken care of this fall with my 9.3x57 Mauser. Naturally some of the calibers were used in different cartridges and different types of firearms.

Y'all are making this sound a whole lot harder than it is. I know and as you all (at least those of you who are old hands here) remember, I am a foremost advocate of all things carcano. What you want to do is buy EITHER some 6.5 Mannlicher Schoenaur brass OR some 6.5 Carcano brass. Grafs has the 6.5 Carcano cheap. For either, trim to 51mm in length. Run through a Lee 7.35 sizer die, chamfer, and you are done. Proper bullets are available at www.buffaloarms.com
One more thing- any reloading die set you get from Lee will use crummy #2 shellholders which are way too big for this case head. Order and RCBS #9.
