Sounds to me as though you were sold a post ban restricted magazine and are in trouble...as is the guy who sold it to you. After the 1994 Crime Bill went into effect it became unlawful to manufacture high capacity magazines for sale to the general public (or import magaines made after the cut off date). High capacity magazines could continue to be made but these are intended for sale to law enforcement, the military, and for export. Only licensed firearms dealers are allowed to posses and sell these magazines and there are a number of records which we must keep. A typical restricted magazine would be marked like this (from a restricted Walther P-99 magazine): RESTRICTED FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, GOVERNMENT USE AND/OR EXPORT ONLY. This magazine cannot be sold no anyone who is not an authorized purchaser with paperwork to prove it. Get your money back for that Ruger magazine, you are not supposed to have it and you are violating the law and taking a risk.
