HI-STANDARD disassembly

I recently purchased a Hi-Standard Model B, .22LR, autoloader. The gun was a flood gun but has no rust except the springs. Question is how do the pins in the slide drift out? Top to bottom or bottom to top. Same for the receiver, left to right or right to left? Gun was manufactured in 1939 and shoots great but the mainspring is rusty and I would like to clean or replace it. s/n 440xx, thanks in advance for any help. Mark

  BE CAREFULL! The early model Hi-Standard Pistols, (1933-1950) are a real bear to work on. If you don't do it right you'll screw the pistol up!
  The best instructions I've found for disassembling and serviceing, the early model Hi-Standard Pistols, has been in a book by Burr Leyson. "THE HI-STANDARD PISTOL GUIDE" This book dates from the 1950's, but has been reprinted in recent times.
  Try Jim Spaceick's, Hi-Standard Collectors site on the net, he use to sell them.

  Thanks for the info and warning, I will do a search for Jim Spaceick's, website. I am confident in my mechanical abilities and am sure I can do the spring replacement myself, just need to know which way to drive the pins out..anyone else know??? Thanks
