Any one know if it is possible to put an after market adjustable rear sight on a Smith Airweight? Is there such a creature?

  queeksdraw,,,, Yes it can be done. Since Smith made some of their "J" frames with adjustable sights, ie, some of the model 36's, and others, you should be able to find what you want.
  
  You will have to have the top if the top strap milled and tapped to accept the new sights, and of course re-finished. It might be easier to sell the gun you have and buy one that already has the adjustable sights.
  
  One problem is threading the light weight alloy frame. It would be really easy to strip out the screws used to attach the new sights.
