.22magnum vs .32ACP
Given the barrel lengths of say.... a NAA 1 5/8" barrel, or a 2" Black Widow; would the velocities , energy, or penetration rival the .32??? (KelTec, Beretta, ect)

One of the gun magazines asked that same question; they did a test on the 22mag., 32acp, 25acp and (I think they looked at the 22lr.).
This was a couple of years ago, but I know I saved the article--somewhere. They looked a velocities, energies, and fired numerous rounds into balistic gelatin, measuring the deformation (of the gelatin) and bullet fragmentation/deformation.
Their conclusion was that NONE provided any "really significant" stopping power, but they were most impressed with the 22mags. potentials.0 -

I have an auto in .22 mag (AMT II) and .32 ACP (Colt 1903). The .22 mag. makes me smile [:D]. For home protection, go with the one with a higher magazine capacity 'cause neither of them will stop much. But the .22 mag will sound REAL good (not)doing it. [8]

Caliber aside, I'm thinking; "what configuration would suit your application better?" I like the NAA stuff and am familiar with their product line, but you're talking about single-action only with the Black Widow, or a version of their Companion line of revolvers. The Companions come in a variety of configurations, such as a larger grip that the gun folds into...like a jack-knife. This gives you a larger grip (like the Black Widow) and makes it more compact when not deployed...it kind of fills a niche between the Companion and the Black Widow.
The Companions are very small and manageable...even in .22 Magnum, but the Black Widow is getting a bit larger...why not opt for something larger/different with double action, or semi-auto maybe... unless you just like it. They are interesting, but not really suited for anything hurried or rapid fire.0 -

I own both. If you really have to defend yourself, you could empty a magazine of silvertips in a .32 auto in about 3 seconds with pretty good accuracy vs. about 2 shots from a .22 magnum single action. While the .22 magnum may be a more effective round in a one shot to one shot comparison, when in doubt, empty the gun.

Keep in mind that the .22 mag is an auto not a revolver. did I mention it sounds better too.[:D]

My bad, Nomad, I was trying to make a comparison between a .32 auto and an NAA .22 magnum SA.
In your case, I think I would prefer the AutoMag.
