Competition .45
I'm thinking of getting a .45 handgun for competition, and I'm leaning towards a Kimber or Para Ord. Of these or any other .45 handgun, which is the best bang for the buck?? Best model?[?]

Mohavekid--This question is best answered by (1)What is you budget? and (2)What kind of competition? Bullseye shooting might well require the pistol to be set up differently than action shooting, etc. There are .45s with all the bells and whistles for under $1,000 and some of the better known custom makers are getting $3,000 a copy. Both of the brands you have named are excellent pistols. I have 3 Paras, and all 3 are exceptionally accurate and reliable. Kimbers have an outstanding reputation, and I believe most folks here would give the nod to the Kimber. Dont't forget Wilson and Les Baer products. Colt is again making a good product and the new SW1911 is beginning to come on the market. So, we come back to what are you going to do with it and how much do you want to spend? 0 -
I'm leaning towards bullseye shooting, but also have the fancy to try some action shooting. Would you suggest that a gun would be better without the target sights?

I like bullzeye shooting and my Kimber Gold match works great for me. I however do not like it for any of the combat style shooting because the big target sights are harder for me to line up and fire quickly.

My budget is about $1000-$1250. I would like it for bullseye shooting, but I have a strong curiousity for action shooting? All the research that I 've done has led me to agree with your feelings on the Para & Kimber.

If you think you might ever want to try action shooting, buy the para. Twice as much ammo makes it a little less chalanging to the new shooter.
Why does everyone feel the need to burn that much powder?0 -
I just purchased a new Kimber Tactical Pro. I liked the combined features of it the best, 30lpi checkering on the front strap, new external extractor , aloy frame,fancy grips and finish,and night sights. I never realy considered night sights before, but they were in the package , they are amazing, when you put them in the dark, they glow realy bright. I now think they are my favorite feature and I wasn`t even looking for a gun with them. I found it on the auction side for $830.00 , which was about $125.00 less than I could get it locally. Just my 2 cents,but very happy with gun.
