Colt Light Rifle

Just wondering if anybody has any experience with these rifles. Are they any good and I was told they only made around 5000 or so. I have the opportunity to pick up one in 300 win mag with a burris fullfield 3x9x40 edot scope for for $600. thanks Jeff

  Does anyone know if there is another stock that will fit this rifle.
  Preferably a synthetic one. I know the purpose of these rifles is to be very light and it is but I'd like to put a more solid stock on it. I love the way it shoots but it's a 300 win mag and weighing a little more than 5Lbs. It kickes like a mule. If anybody knows of such a stock and where I can get it please let me know.

  This was a good idea by Colt that got mucked up by management. Colt decided to put out a production-class rifle based on Mel Forbes' Ultra Light Arms rifles. They modified the design to better allow for mass-production and had the parts machined by Saco Defense. The stock (I believe) is a cheesed-down McMillan spinoff.
  
  The early .30-06 rifles had serious trigger problems and were recalled. Other calibers, and post-recall '06 rifles, are not affected.
  
  Many complaints about flimsy forends, difficult triggers, and lack of replacement parts (Colt did not buy replacement parts from Saco, and nobody knows where the overrun of parts is after Colt folded the project). However, those that have put a little time and effort into the rifles have gotten them to shoot very well.
  
  For the money, not a bad call. They were never supposed to be that inexpensive, but Colt blew them out to distributors when they folded the project.
