Does the .243 RCBS caliber differ from .243

I was wondering if a .243 RCBS chambered rifle can shoot normal .243 caliber shells? If there any difference between the two and if there is what would the purpose be? Thanks[:)]

  HUH!!!!! Not sure how to put this, but looks to me like you are comparing RCBS Dies for the 243 to the 243 round. hope this helps.

  The .243 RCBS is an "improved" version of the .243 Win. It's shoulder is less than that of the Ackley version. Have your chamber checked (cerrosafe cast) by a reputable gunsmith and measured. Then you can call Huntingtons in California to get all the information regarding this cartridge. It was Fred Huntington who developed it.

  If it is an improved version of the 243win, then that probably means that the case was "blown out" some to increase powder volumne, as well as having it's shoulder angle changed in the process. If it was blown out, it will fire the standard 243win round. If the shoulder angle was changed, but the case not blown out, it won't allow the bolt to close on a standard round. I am not familiar with that round, so getting a schematic of it's dimensions would be the best bet.

  The bolt does not close with standard rounds so that maybe the case.

  the 243 rcbs is a 243 winchester case with the shoulder angle blown out to from 20 degrees to 26.7. also i think you have a slight problem if factory 243 win shells will not fit your chamber. they should, because fireforming is the only way to make the cases. i would have this gun checked by a professional gunsmith to see what you have
