9mm llama

i bought a 9mm llama for self defense and people have been telling me that it will jam up before i can get the whole 8 shots fired out of it.does anyone know about 9mm llama's and if they are known to jam up? also is this a good gun for self defense and does it have enough stopping power to stop an attackerfrom about 20 yards? please let me know so i can sleep better at night knowing what my gun is capable of and not capable of.thanks.

    Llama 9mm pistols have been made in Spain by Gabilondo & Co. from the 1930's to the present day. They range in quality from poor (Model 11 Special) to excellent ( Models 82 & 87).
    Since we don't know which model you have. We can't give you any help in that respect.
    Only thing you can do is to go out and buy various brands of 9mm ammo (hollow point & ball) to test fire, and practice with, so you'l know that it will function reliabily and accurately in a self defense situation.

    im not sure what model it is but it is a medium sized gun.another thing i was wanting to know is does it have enough power to knock someone down with a stomach shot from about 20 yards away? i know a 9mm isnt the best self defense weapon but would u feel safe carrying a 9mm?

    I don't really like the 9mm personally I would have gone with the .40 s&w or the .45 auto at that range with a 9mm the bullet will probablly go right on through not much knock down with a 9mm it also depends on your tpe of ammunition you are using you will have more knock down with different types. If you shoot someone that is coming at you and is on drugs proably won't have an effect on them right away. by the way you need to aim a little higher than the stomach if you want to stop them.

    Llama's have a bad reputation among many gun communities and circles. Is your gun any good? Well the only way to find out is to go out and shoot it. If you don't have any problems with it, then it must be good right, right. Ok, well now you need confidence in the 9mm cartridge. Some people will say its to small or doesn't have enough power. Well its been killing people for well over 50years from ranges of 0 to over 20yards, so I guess it must be ok then huh?

    You've gotten a lot of mixed signals here, but there is some truth in all of them. Personally, I've found that Llamas run about 50/50 reliable/unreliable new out of the box. Leeblackman is correct in that the only way you will find out how reliable yours is will be to shoot it. Naturally, you'd want to do that anyway to find out how accurate it is. Does it shoot high, low, left, right? Try it out with several brands and types of ammunition, because it may shoot better with one brand/type than another. If your pistol won't feed hollow point ammo (best for close range defense) you can probably get it to do so by polishing the feed ramp. If you have no experience, this is best done by a gunsmith. If you have an extra magazine (clip) you'll also want to shoot your pistol using it to make sure that it functions properly. Personally, I've never seen a Llama that couldn't be made reliable with a little TLC. As for the effectiveness of the 9mm--Lee is about right there too; but try 100 years, as the Germans adopted the cartridge for their navy in 1904 and army in 1908. Will it knock someone down? Unlikely. Will it ruin their whole day and cause them to cease their activity. Probably. There are a lot of variables here like the type of bullet and the location where hit. If you're unfortunate enough to have to shoot someone in defense of your life, why stop with one shot? Two are much more effective.

    Spoof, I have never read such foolish questions on this forum before, keep them comeing, But maybe you would be better off to sell your GUN. Take the money and do some travaling, maybe you can find your real DAD.
