Browning BAR wood finish

What does Browning use to finish the wood on their BAR's? The usual strippers don't seem to work. Don't want to damage the checkering by sanding. Thanks, Bill.

  The question of repairing Browning's wood finish has come up before, without any satisfactory response. I think that it is some kind of acrylic resin, as it is thick enough to actually chip off. I am sure that there is SOME solvent that would work, but these things are too expensive for ME to experiment.

  Browning uses an epoxy-based finish that is very tough. For typical stock finishes, we use regular old furniture stripper from the hardware store, but on Browning wood that takes about 4-6 applications to get anywhere. We ended up biting the bullet and buying Certi-Strip from Brownell's. Still takes 2-3 coats though.
