Lebel Carbine Forend Band
I recently purchased a M 1916 carbine. It is stamped Chatellerault MLE M1916. Opposite side of receiver is stamped "MA C 1917" The receiver is not modified as in later models. It does not allow the bigger magazine.
It does not have hole for cleaning rod and has bayo lug. I don't see this particular gun in any of my books. Every other carbine has a cleaning rod except the Mousquetons d'Artillere Mle. M16 with 5 round mag or, perhaps, it is the 1927 M1892 modified carbine (3 round).
Anyway, the point is, I need and am not quite sure which front muzzle ring is correct for this rifle. Both had the stacking hook so maybe it doesn't matter.
Can anyone give me a lead on this part? Oh, and a sling would be nice too. These French rifles are new to me. Thanks, Joe
