this gun came in a lot of 11 other pieces. most are S&W`s. i will be posting all of them, as i am not a SMITH expert. the gun functions, the cylinder index`s correctly. it locks up tight, no play in the action. it has about 60% finish, the left grip is cracked at the base. all #`s match. its in NRA GOOD condition or better.
what model is it??? when was it made??? is it rare, or of collector intrest??? what is its value??? best regards, mike.

With that serial number, it would be the S&W .38 Safety DA Revolver, First Model. Mfg in 1887. The thumb release for opening the revolver should be a button on the left side of the top strap that is pushed inward, the 'Z-Bar' release.
You dont indicate if the pearls have S&W monograms, we'll assume they do not.
In the condition you describe, collector interest would be mild. Value around $300-$350, only because of the relative scarcity of First Models.
