Got a barrel marked 25 GIBBS and Santa Barbra. What brass can be used?
Any info about it will be appreciated.

  You really need a chamber cast. Otherwise you don't know what the chamber measures. If you go by the data in the reloading manual there is the chance that you will get into a headspace problem or a max cartridge length problem. The brass can be formed from .270 Win by sizing until the bolt will close with moderate pressure on a case. Then fireform with a moderate load while watching that bullets don't contact the rifling.

  Rocky Gibbs was from Idaho, he was active as a wildcater in the 40's & 50's, specializing in rechambering rifles for his own custom cartridges.
  The .25 Gibbs was one of his creations. It's based on the 30-06 case highly modified. Some of his techniques entailed "Duplex Loading" and "Front Ignition".
  He claimed extreme velocity gains for his "Wildcats", that never were substantiated.
  Your barrel is probably worth more as collectors item then any thing else, because of the difficulty in fabricating the brass.

  according to "handloader's manual of cartridge conversions" you form 25 gibbs from 25-06 using the following steps. full lenght size in the gibbs die, fireform in the chamber with light loads, trim, chamfer and reload. there is also a 256 gibbs magnum so a chamber cast to a good idea.

  On wildcats, *always* get a chamber cast to be sure of the exact cartridge. Then take a look at Ackley's books or something of that nature to find loads.
