Old Weaver scope mounts
I'm trying to get application info a Weaver Type B scope mount (not a model
. This dates back to the mid thirties. The base and the bottom of the ring are one piece. This is attached to the rifle by screws which are side by side. The top of the ring is then attached to the bottom ring/base by four screws. These rings were marked with a letter/number combo. I'm trying to find out the letter/number combo to fit a late thirties model 70 winchester. Thanks for your help.

What you describe sounds to me like a Stith master mount, more so than a Weaver mount 0 -
Check Nick Strobel's "Old Rifle Scopes" book. Page 380. That's the base/ring set I'm interested in. 0
