I use the small Kowa for 50 yd. .22 caliber shooting, it's about $100 depending on where you buy it. Gil Hebard had the best prices on it when I bought mine. 0 -

Optolyth makes what some consider the best spotting scopes in the world. It is made in Germany and they can be very expensive but you can buy them around them used around the $500 once in a while. There is one on ebay now the expires in 3 days. I have one and it is great but maybe overkill if you are not looking very far with it.

The item # is 3606121438 but if you type in Optolyth in the home page search it will pop up (there are 2 for sale now). Another option is checking with Alex Roy at www.eurooptic.com , He sold me mine used but in mint condition for $750 and it was around $1300+ brand new.
