what action ?

I have an action it is marked field patent dated 1877 it looks like a martini but has a side lever to open it also a lock unlock lever it also has a safety just above the trigger it has no exposed hammer like a martini but in side it is all diffrent it has a swinging hammer the action is in exellent condition I have not found anyone who knows anything about it or its value any help will be greatly appriciated...

  Believe I can help you with information regarding your action.
  It was patented by William Field a gunsmith from Birmingham England in 1881.
  His business was known as the Field Rifle Company and was active in Birmingham until the late 1890's selling the rifles he patented along with other sporting arms.
  As to the value of the action, this would depend on it condition (Is it functional? any original finish? etc. etc.) and any collectors demand for this type of action?

  Could you post some pictures of the action? While it could be a Field, I have another action in mind, but need a picture to be sure.
