Turkey / Shotgun Shells
I have a friend who has some 5 yr old shells that he is using while turkey hunting. I don't think that they are very safe but he insists they will be fine. Do shells have a 'shelf life'? When should they be discarded? Thanks for any comments.

As long as they are not exposed to temperature and humidity extremes, 5 years is no time at all.

I recall when Remington came out with plastic shotshells.(shows how old I am) they claimed you could run them through the washing machine and still use em. I've shot shells that were 30-40 yrs old with 100% working. I've also seen some very old ones where the shot had oxidized completely to powder but they still shot.
