Argentine 1911Colt

I have a 1927 Argentine Colt 1911..It has been a knock around gun for the last 6 or 7 years, and it looks like it..Up to the cabin, in the glove box, etc..I'd like to send the gun in and get some work done to it, but I am unsure where I should send it..I am not looking for a competition gun, but I would like the following work done..New sights, all springs replaced, full length guide rod, and refinish.. I just want to make sure it will be dependable for another 6 or 7 years..Any suggestions, I am all ears..Thanks, Andy

  Except for the refinish (and perhaps the sights), you can do most of the work yourself....the springs and guide rod (if you really think one is necessary) are pretty much "drop in" stuff.
  
  If you want a gunsmith to do everything, almost any competent local one can do it. Almost any gunshop or shooting club can recommend a local to do the work you want.

  xracer makes sense. Besides, shipping anywhere will cost $30-50 each way, since you can only ship UPS or FEDEX Next Day Air.

  I'm with them. For springs, I would recommend Wolff springs. They will sell an entire kit for the pistol. They are on the web, and you can order on the web.

  Ok, I agree that I can do the springs with no problem..But what about the sights and refinish? Does anyone know of someone in Illinois who would do this work..As always I appreciate your responses..Thanks, Andy
