In looking for a mount for my Czech/98 Mauser - Midway lists two different mounts one for a Mauser 98 and one for a Mauser 98 FN. What is the difference between these two models?

660 is the manufacturers code for Muaser 98 rifles produced by Steyr Damimler Puch. Steyr produced slightly over 140,000 rifles in 1940 and all serial numbers consisted of a four digit number followed by a letter suffix, beginning with "a" and ending with "n".

To bad you only have the receiver!
What you have their is a extremely rare varation of the 98K ( 1 of 300 rifles) according to my reference, assembled by Steyr in 1940.
Supposedly these rifles were distined for the Luffwaffe? They were assembled from a old pre Anschuss Steyr parts along with Polish Model 29 Receivers etc.
If the receiver is in original condition (not reblued or buffed) it's worth big bucks to the shade tree mechanics who specialize in "FINDING/RESTORING" rare 98K's for the collectors market.
