Information about Star Super-B

I recently purchased a Star Super B 9mmP, and I am curious about the history of this firearm. I know they were manufactured in Spain, but I do not know anything else. I am interested in what were they used for, what countries were they used in, etc. Anything that I can find out will be of interest. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  Snowman knows a link to nearly every firearm ever made. I can tell you this much off the top of my head: The Star Super B began its life as the Model A after WWI. These were available in several calibers and some were slotted for shoulder stocks (rare). The first production pistol were made without the grip safety, but this was included in pistols made after late 1922. These Model A's were very popular with the Spanich Civil Gaurds and saw service during the Spanish Civil War. The Model B came along in early 1926 and was basically a Model A with a "humped" back strap like the Colt 1911A1. Model B's were only made in 9mm and were very popular throughout Europe in the pre WWII days. The German Army bought around 35,000 of these pistols and issued them to their own forces (these are valuable to collectors if correctly marked). Production on the Model B did not end until the late 1970's- a very long production run. Your Super B offers an improved takedown and did away with the Browning Swing Link in favor of the soild cam. The Super B was the standard Spainsh Army service pistol until the adoption of the Star 30M in 1989. I believe the Super B model was discontinued in 1990. I owned a Star Model B many years ago and always though very highly of it. Sadly time marched on and the old Model B and Super B were left behind in a world which demanded double action, decockers, and high capacity magazines.
