Winchester 30/30 cent.
Hello all,
My friend just purchased a Winchester 30/30 1866 to 1966 Cent. The rifle has never been fired and has only one minor scratch on the stock. However, he does not have the original box or papers. Any information on this rifle and its value would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming this is the gun with the gold plated receiver and octagon barrel, if it is in good shape you should have no problem to get 350.00 for it. I have one with no box but papers and the papers are not that special, just some brochures etc.. The guns were never serial numbered as to quantity made (ex. 34 of 1000) just as regular special models so I would still call it limited but I do not have exact numbers they were made in. There were 2 models produced, the carbine with a 20 inch barrel and the rifle with a 26 inch barrel.
Magazine cap with the carbine was 6 and 8 on the rifle. The guns weighed approx 7lbs for the carbine and 8lbs for the rifle.0 -
Captkirk is right in the ballpark for value. Box and papers does give
extra value. Their were appox. 102,500 total production of the carbine and rifle. Hope this helps.0 -
I have one each, a carbine and a rifle--both unfired (I have the boxes without the papers). I have been tempted to use cold blue on the brass to "artificially age" the rifles. I think they would look better than their gosh-awful gold color.

His is the 26inch barrel. He paid $250.00 so it sounds like he got a good deal. Thanks again for all the feedback. 0
