    No, your serial # is probably too high to be transitional. It was made in early 1943, and the original finish was most likely parkerized. It sounds like it has been refinished. You can verify this by looking at the GHD inspector stamp with at least a 10X magnifier; you should see "burnishing". i.e., this stamp was applied after finishing, so there should be some areas of bare metal within the depressions of the letters. If all you see within the depressions is blue steel, then you can be certain that it has been refinished.

    You might check the barrel. The original barrel was blue, with COLT .45 AUTO stamped near the barrel lug; a P should be stamped on the lug, and a G or S should be on the bottom in front of the lug.
