Marlin Model 1894
I've got a Marlin Model 1897. It has Marlin Firearms Co. New Haven Ct. USA Patent Oct. 13 1887, April 2, 1889 and a third date that is worn to much to make out. It has Model 1894 in the metal behind the hammer that goes into the stock. It has an octagan barrel and is a 32-20. If I had to guess I'd say it is about 65 to 70 per cent. Can anybody give me a ballpark worth of the rifle. The serial no. is 201xxx. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the boards.
Since our Marlin guys seem to be asleep, I will try to help out. Since I'm not familiar enough with the market on these rifles I make reference to a couple of price guides. By the way, you appear to have a Model 1894 (the 1897 was a .22).
Average book value for one in about 60% condition seems to run around $600. Again, that is book value; hopefully someone with better knowledge on this rifle will make a better informed response.
By the way, any relation to Keith Mashburn, the motorcycle racer?

redcedars, thanks for the help. Not related to Kieth Mashburn that I know of. I am kin to Tripp Nobles out of Macon who use to race.
