Add a stock to SP89?
I hope this isn't a stupid question. I'm contemplating buying an SP89, and I believe I see slots on it for a collapsable stock. Is it legal to add the stock to it? Further, are they available?

There are stocks and adaptors available to fit an SP-89. However, you cannot do this legally without registering this new "short barreled rifle" with the BATFE. You'll need ATF Form 1, photos's, finger prints, and a sign off by your cheif law enforcement officer...plus $200 for the National Firearm Act Tax. Before you ask, you are also prohibited from adding a foreward hand grip to an SP-89 without going through the same procedures for your new "any other weapon". All of the paperwork must be in and approved by the BATFE before you can procede with either of these projects. An SP-89 with a folding stock is a handy little weapon and if you are willing to jump through the hoops to get it registered I see no reason not to go ahead and do this.
