Marlin Mdl. 53 12 ga. Needs Work...
I can't find a gunsmith in my area (Northern Indiana) that can check this shotgun before I take it to the duckblind. I need to be sure this gun is safe to shoot, so I will need to have the bolt-to- headspace gap checked, the safety inspected and for any loose or missing parts before I feel good to go.
I'm a very experienced machinist, with all the tools that go with the trade, so I could do it myself with some guidance, but....
Anyone out there want the job, or know of anyone?

headspace in a shotgun isn't as important as a rifle or pistol, if you want to check just add layers of electrical tape to the back of a deactivated shotgun shell (new) untill you can't close the bolt. each layer is about .005" and anything under four layers should be ok. as for the safty either it works or dosen't. 0
