more reliable??
are full metal jackets more reliable then hollow points in a 9mm and a 32 caliber? many thanks

With today's modern ammo Hollow Points are reliable,and much more effective than FMJ ammo.

Depends on the gun. A lot of new guns feed hollow/soft points well, but not all. If it absolutely, positively has to feed every time, I still go with FMJ. FMJ WILL Usually out penetrate soft/hollow point ammo, so if you need to go through things, go FMJ.

Military ammo is always FMJ and has to work in every weapon. When you say "perform", I hope you're asking about reliable feeding, not terminal performance characteristics.

What a great question, Range! As many of my NRA instructors say, "Better a metal jacket, than a straight jacket." But seriously, I've been following your questions through the years, and I must say, I am very very impressed! I took special interest in your commentary a few weeks ago about the decrepid condition of the restrooms at most ranges, and sympathize with the nasuea you must endure while trying to enjoy a simple bowel movement at so many of our poorly run and customer service lacking gun ranges.
I would rather be held by 3 skinny cheerleaders, than carried by 6, judged by 12, what ever else you guys say.0 -
I've never noticed a difference in any of mine, but most of mine are relatively new and are likely designed for use with hollow points. I do think a jacketed hollow point kind of gives the best of both worlds so to speak.
gunnut, doesn't the military use FMJ instead of other types due to the rules of war (Geneva convention, etc)? Maybe not, but that is what it seemed like. Then again, the odds a grunt will meet a guy in body armor is much more likely than a civilian will.0
